Hypothesis

This study aimed to assess the correlation between disease control and quality of life in patients with chronic spontaneous urticaria and recurrent angioedema.

Conclusion

Most patients with controlled disease have better quality of life, but some still experience impairment even with complete disease control.

Supporting Evidence

  • In CSU, 5.9% of patients with complete disease control had impaired QoL.
  • In RA, 28% of patients with complete disease control had impaired QoL.
  • QoL was impaired in 69.2% of CSU patients based on CU-Q2oL.
  • QoL was impaired in 58.5% of RA patients using AE-QoL.

Takeaway

If you have a skin condition like chronic urticaria, feeling better doesn't always mean you feel happy; some people still feel sad even when their symptoms are gone.

Methodology

The study analyzed data from 445 CSU and 330 RA patients who completed disease control and quality of life PROMs.

Limitations

The study was conducted in a specialized outpatient clinic, which may see a higher number of severe cases.

Participant Demographics

Patients included 445 with chronic spontaneous urticaria and 330 with recurrent angioedema.
