Hypothesis

There will be a change in enamel color and surface micro-hardness following the application of ICON resin infiltration and CPP-ACFP remineralizing agent.

Conclusion

Teeth treated with CPP-ACFP showed significant improvement in enamel color and hardness compared to those treated with ICON and untreated teeth.

Supporting Evidence

  • Group B (ICON) showed a significant increase in color change compared to the control group.
  • Group C (CPP-ACFP) showed a significant increase in micro-hardness compared to groups A and B.
  • All groups exhibited a significant reduction in enamel micro-hardness after demineralization.

Takeaway

This study found that a special treatment called CPP-ACFP makes teeth look better and stronger after they have been damaged, while another treatment called ICON doesn't work as well.

Methodology

Fifty-four extracted human third molars were divided into three groups and treated with either no treatment, ICON, or CPP-ACFP, with measurements taken for color and hardness at baseline, after demineralization, and after treatment.

Limitations

The use of extracted human third molars may not fully represent the complex oral environment and individual variations in treatment response.

Participant Demographics

Extracted human third molars from various donors.
