Hypothesis

The study investigates the antitumour activity of di-n-butyltin, tri-n-butyltin, and triphenyltin terebates against human tumour cell lines.

Conclusion

The synthesized organotin compounds showed comparable or greater antitumour activity than several clinically used drugs.

Supporting Evidence

  • The compounds were found to be comparably or more active than carboplatin, cis-platin, 5-fluorouracil, methotrexate, and doxorubicin.
  • Di-n-butyltin compounds generally exhibit higher activity than other diorganotin compounds.
  • Tri-n-butyltin and triphenyltin compounds showed significant activity against various human tumour cell lines.

Takeaway

Scientists made new chemical compounds and tested them to see if they could help fight cancer. They found that some of these new compounds worked as well or better than some medicines doctors use.

Methodology

The compounds were synthesized through condensation reactions and characterized using various NMR techniques.
