Hypothesis
The study investigates the synthesis and characterization of copper(II) complexes of octamethyl tetraazacyclotetradecadiene and their anti-fungal activities.
Conclusion
The copper(II) complexes exhibited varying levels of anti-fungal activity against selected phytopathogenic fungi.
Supporting Evidence
- The ligand and its copper complexes were tested against three fungi: Altemaria altemata, Curvularia lunata, and Macrophomina phaseolina.
- The anti-fungal activities of the ligand decreased upon coordination to copper(II).
- The study found that the diene ligand may have a different effect on the fungi compared to its saturated isomeric macrocycles.
Takeaway
The researchers made new copper compounds and tested them to see if they could stop certain fungi from growing.
Methodology
The anti-fungal activities were assessed using the poisoned food technique on Potato Dextrose Agar.
Limitations
The study did not fully characterize some of the green products due to insufficient quantity.
