Conclusion

Incisional hernia is a very common complication of wound healing after surgery, and good care and precautions are very important to avoid its development.

  • Incisional hernias develop in 3.8 – 11.5% of cases after abdominal surgery.
  • Ninety percent of incisional hernias occur within 3 years of operation.
  • Repair of large abdominal incisional hernias is a difficult surgical problem with recurrence being a common complication.
