Hypothesis

Prolonged upper airway obstruction after posterior cervical spine surgery is a possible complication for patients with metastatic tumors of the upper cervical spine.

Conclusion

Pharyngeal edema may persist for a long time in patients with metastatic tumors of the upper cervical spine after surgery.
