Hypothesis
This study aims to examine the differences and agreements between EQ-5D index scores using UK, US, and Japan preference weights in Thai type 2 diabetes patients.
Conclusion
The Japan model showed better psychometric properties than the UK and US models, and the differences in EQ-5D scores had a small impact on cost-utility analysis.
Supporting Evidence
- The US weights yielded higher scores than those of the UK and Japan weights.
- The Japan scheme provided better test-retest reliability than both UK and US schemes.
- Variation in EQ-5D scores had a marginal impact on incremental cost-utility ratio.
Takeaway
This study looked at how different countries value health for people with diabetes in Thailand, finding that Japan's method works best for Thai patients.
Methodology
A cross-sectional study using a convenience sample of 303 type 2 diabetic outpatients, employing ANOVA, ICCs, and various correlation tests.
Limitations
The study used cross-sectional data and focused only on diabetic outpatients, limiting generalizability to other populations.
