Hypothesis
This study aims to compare the visual outcomes and optical quality of two monofocal, aspheric intraocular lenses (IOLs) after cataract surgery.
Conclusion
The CT LUCIA 621P IOL showed better contrast sensitivity and lower internal spherical aberration compared to the Eyhance ICB00 IOL, although both provided similar visual acuity.
Supporting Evidence
- The Lucia group showed better contrast sensitivity at higher spatial frequencies.
- Postoperative internal spherical aberration was significantly lower in the Lucia group.
- Both IOLs yielded comparable visual outcomes at all distances.
Takeaway
Doctors compared two types of lenses used in eye surgery to see which one helps people see better. One lens was found to help with seeing in low light better.
Methodology
This was a retrospective, comparative study involving 120 eyes from 72 patients who underwent cataract surgery with either lens type.
Limitations
The follow-up period was relatively short, and the study did not explore other visual functions like halo and glare sensitivity.
Participant Demographics
Patients aged 50 years or older with clinically significant cataracts.
