Hypothesis

The study aims to investigate the effect of Abnormal Savda Munziq (ASMq) ethanol extract on the proliferation and apoptosis of colon cancer cells (Caco-2).

Conclusion

The ASMq ethanol extract inhibits the growth of Caco-2 cells and induces apoptosis through cell cycle arrest and regulation of apoptosis-related gene expression.

Supporting Evidence

  • ASMq ethanol extract significantly inhibited the proliferation of Caco-2 cells in a dose-dependent manner.
  • Higher concentrations of ASMq ethanol extract induced apoptosis in Caco-2 cells.
  • The study showed a significant increase in the sub-G1 phase of the cell cycle after treatment with ASMq ethanol extract.

Takeaway

This study found that a herbal medicine called Abnormal Savda Munziq can help stop cancer cells from growing and can make them die in a healthy way.

Methodology

Caco-2 cells were treated with different concentrations of ASMq ethanol extract, and various assays were performed to assess cell viability, DNA fragmentation, cell cycle distribution, and gene expression.
