Hypothesis
The objective of this paper is to discuss the unusual histological findings seen in two cases of neurofibromas associated with neurofibromatosis type 1.
Conclusion
Glandular benign peripheral nerve sheath tumors and neurofibromas with rosette-like structures are extremely rare and reflect the histological diversity seen in peripheral nerve sheath tumors.
Supporting Evidence
- Both cases presented with multiple subcutaneous nodules.
- Surgical excision of the largest nodule was done in both cases.
- Case 1 revealed a benign tumor of the peripheral nerve sheath with mucus-producing glands.
- Case 2 showed rosettes in between areas of typical neurofibroma.
Takeaway
This study talks about two rare cases of neurofibromas that showed unusual features, like mucus-producing glands and rosettes, which are not commonly seen.
Methodology
Histological examination of excised tumors from two patients with neurofibromatosis type 1.
Limitations
The study is based on only two case reports, which limits the generalizability of the findings.
Participant Demographics
Two male patients aged 32 and 35 years with neurofibromatosis type 1.
