Hypothesis
During a primary immune response, generation of IgM-IC may occur, resulting in binding and activation of C1, leading to interaction of IgM-IC bearing Clq with EC-ClqR.
Conclusion
The study demonstrates that the endothelial cell Clq receptor can inhibit the lysis of immune complexes in a dose-dependent manner.
Supporting Evidence
- ClqR was isolated from cultured human umbilical cord endothelial cells.
- Purified ClqR exhibited an apparent molecular weight of 55-62 kDa in the unreduced state.
- Monoclonal antibodies D3 and D5 increased the binding of Clq to endothelial cells.
Takeaway
The study found a special receptor on blood vessel cells that helps them grab onto immune complexes, which can help control inflammation.
Methodology
ClqR was isolated from human umbilical cord endothelial cells using affinity chromatography and further purified through various chromatography techniques.
Participant Demographics
Human umbilical cord endothelial cells were used for the study.
