Methodology

The study analyzed Minimum Data Set (MDS) data from 2017-2019 for long-stay nursing home residents with and without dementia who had a Medicare-covered skilled nursing facility stay.

Limitations

The study is limited to data from Michigan and may not be generalizable to other regions.

Participant Demographics

The study included 2,127 residents with dementia and 1,595 residents without dementia.
