Hypothesis
This study aimed to evaluate the outcomes of Class II subdivision teenage patients treated with Invisalign® clear aligners and elastics.
Conclusion
The orthodontic treatment of Class II subdivision with clear aligners showed high accuracy and predictable results, with 91% of patients achieving a Class I molar relationship.
Supporting Evidence
- 21 out of 23 patients achieved a Class I molar relationship, resulting in a 91% success rate.
- Group 1 showed significant improvements in overjet, overbite, and PAR scores compared to Group 2.
- The average midline deviation from the facial midline was reduced significantly in both groups after treatment.
- Patients in Group 1 had a higher variation in dental measurements compared to Group 2.
Takeaway
The study looked at teenagers with crooked teeth and found that using special clear braces and rubber bands helped most of them get their teeth straight.
Methodology
This retrospective study involved 23 participants aged 14.3 ± 2.5 years who were treated with Invisalign® and elastics, measuring various dental parameters before and after treatment.
Limitations
The study relied on the accuracy and availability of orthodontic records and did not include AP radiographs or CBCT images to assess actual skeletal or dentoalveolar asymmetry.
Participant Demographics
15 females and 8 males aged 14.3 ± 2.5 years.
