Conclusion

The increasing incidence of HIV/VL co-infection in India is of utmost importance, and managing these cases is particularly challenging.

  • The patient had a positive Western Blot for HIV1 and a CD4 count of 180/μl.
  • After treatment, the patient's CD4 count increased to 300/ml and he was able to walk with less tremor.
  • The patient relapsed for visceral leishmaniasis after 3 months of therapy.

This study talks about a man who had HIV and a disease called visceral leishmaniasis, along with Parkinson's disease and diabetes. It's really hard to treat these problems together.

Methodology

The case was diagnosed through clinical examination and various hematological and biochemical investigations.

Limitations

The case report is based on a single patient, which limits the generalizability of the findings.
