Hypothesis
This study aims to assess the association of behavioral and psychological factors with three types of sexual risk behavior in adolescents in Central Europe.
Conclusion
Results suggest that behavioral factors are more closely related to sexual risk behavior than psychological factors.
Supporting Evidence
- 81% of sexually experienced females reported inconsistent condom use.
- 62% of participants had sexual experience.
- Alcohol use was a consistent predictor of sexual risk behavior.
Takeaway
The study found that many Slovak students engage in risky sexual behaviors, especially those who drink alcohol or smoke.
Methodology
Data were collected through questionnaires completed by first-year university students regarding their sexual risk behaviors and associated factors.
Potential Biases
Selection bias is unlikely due to the high response rate, but information bias cannot be excluded.
Limitations
The study may have information bias despite measures taken to ensure confidentiality.
Participant Demographics
Participants were 832 first-year university students, aged 19-28, with a majority living in student halls or with parents.
