Hypothesis
The study investigates the antitumour activity of triphenyltin ortho-aminophenyl- and 2-pyridyl-thiolates compared to other known antitumour agents.
Conclusion
The triphenyltin compounds exhibit comparable or superior antitumour activity to methotrexate and doxorubicin, and significantly higher activity than carboplatin and cisplatin.
Supporting Evidence
- The antitumour activities of compounds 1 and 2 were determined against a panel of six human tumour cell lines.
- Compounds 1 and 2 showed activity comparable to methotrexate and doxorubicin.
- Both compounds were significantly more active than carboplatin and cisplatin.
Takeaway
The researchers made new compounds that can fight cancer, and they found that these compounds work better than some common cancer drugs.
Methodology
The compounds were synthesized and their antitumour activities were tested in vitro against six human tumour cell lines.
Limitations
Full structure determination for compound 2 could not be achieved due to crystal disorder.
