Conclusion

Aspergilloma, invasive aspergillosis, and multidrug resistant tuberculosis can coexist in the same patient.

Supporting Evidence

  • The patient had a history of irregular treatment for pulmonary tuberculosis.
  • Biopsy and culture confirmed the presence of both Aspergillus fumigatus and multidrug resistant Mycobacterium tuberculosis.
  • After treatment, hemoptysis completely resolved and sputum became negative for acid fast bacilli.

A woman with diabetes had a rare combination of lung infections caused by both tuberculosis and a fungus. After surgery and medication, she got better.

Methodology

The patient underwent a right lung upper lobe resection and was treated with Voriconazole and anti-tuberculous therapy.

Limitations

The case report is based on a single patient, limiting generalizability.
