Hypothesis
To describe SD-OCT findings in patients with diffuse unilateral subacute neuroretinitis and evaluate CRT and RNFL thickness.
Conclusion
RNFL and CMT were thinner in DUSN eyes compared to normal eyes, with more pronounced thinning in late-stage disease.
Supporting Evidence
- Mean RNFL thickness was 80.25 μm for affected eyes and 104.75 μm for normal eyes.
- Mean CMT was 205.5 μm for affected eyes and 255.13 μm for normal fellow eyes.
- Late-stage disease had mean RNFL thickness of 74.83 μm compared to 96.5 μm in early stage.
Takeaway
This study looked at patients with a specific eye disease and found that their eye layers were thinner than normal, especially in those with more severe disease.
Methodology
Retrospective study reviewing medical records of patients diagnosed with DUSN who underwent SD-OCT.
Limitations
Small sample size and lack of statistical analysis for early-stage disease due to few patients.
Participant Demographics
Mean age of affected patients was 17 years, with 7 out of 8 patients being male.
