Conclusion

Duodenal GISTs in children are very rare and can be treated successfully with complete surgical resection, although long-term outcomes may be unpredictable.

Supporting Evidence

  • GISTs are uncommon in children and mostly occur in adults.
  • The patient had severe anaemia due to recurrent gastrointestinal bleeding.
  • Complete surgical resection was performed with no complications during follow-up.

Takeaway

A 14-year-old boy had a rare tumor in his intestine that caused severe bleeding, but doctors were able to remove it completely, and he is doing well now.

Methodology

The patient underwent emergency surgery to remove a 4 cm mass from the duodenum, followed by histopathological and immunohistochemical analysis.

Limitations

The study is based on a single case, limiting the generalizability of the findings.

Participant Demographics

A 14-year-old male patient.
