Hypothesis
To analyze clinico-pathological features of Chinese patients with UPSC, and investigate roles of Her-2/neu protein expression and gene amplification in UPSC prognosis.
Conclusion
Chinese patients with UPSC showed characteristics of deep myometrial invasion, advanced stages, and poor overall survival, with Her-2/neu overexpression associated with worse outcomes.
Supporting Evidence
- The 1-year, 3-year, and 5-year overall survival rates were 73.1%, 51.9%, and 43.9%, respectively.
- Her-2/neu overexpression was seen in 36.1% of patients.
- Patients with Her-2/neu overexpression had a 5-year overall survival rate of 12.9% compared to 68.6% for those without.
Takeaway
This study looked at women in China with a type of uterine cancer and found that those with a certain protein (Her-2/neu) had worse survival rates.
Methodology
Retrospective analysis of 36 patients with UPSC using immunohistochemistry and chromogenic in situ hybridization.
Limitations
The study is limited by its small sample size and single-institution design.
Participant Demographics
Median age was 63 years, with 61% in late stages (stage III/IV).
