Hypothesis
The study aimed to develop an effective solid dispersion formulation of fenofibrate for simultaneous enhancement in the extent and duration of drug exposure.
Conclusion
The FNSD2 formulation is effective in improving the extent and duration of drug exposure simultaneously.
Supporting Evidence
- FNSD2 achieved approximately 66% drug release over 12 hours, while pure drug exhibited only 12%.
- FNSD2 increased the oral bioavailability of fenofibrate by 22 folds with a delayed Tmax of 4 hours in rats.
- The formulation maintained similar release rates under fed and fasted conditions.
Takeaway
This study created a new way to deliver a medicine called fenofibrate that helps lower bad fats in the blood, making it work better and last longer in the body.
Methodology
Fenofibrate-loaded solid dispersions were prepared using poloxamer 407 and Eudragit® RSPO at varied ratios via solvent evaporation, followed by in vitro and in vivo evaluations.
Participant Demographics
Male Sprague-Dawley rats (250–280 g) were used for pharmacokinetic studies.
