Conclusion

Total pelvic exenteration for primary malignant melanoma of the cervix offers a feasible initial treatment for these unusual cases.

Supporting Evidence

  • Primary malignant melanoma of the cervix is a rare disease with less than 60 cases reported.
  • The patient was disease-free for 8 years after treatment.
  • Total pelvic exenteration was proposed as an optimal management for this neoplasia.

Takeaway

A woman with a rare type of cancer in her cervix was treated with a big surgery and has been healthy for 8 years after that.

Methodology

The patient underwent total pelvic exenteration followed by adjuvant radiotherapy.

Limitations

The study is based on a single case report, limiting generalizability.

Participant Demographics
