Hypothesis

The Student productivity log (SPL) will help manage and document student progress during clinic sessions without patients.

Conclusion

The SPL was effectively used by students and faculty to document a variety of clinical competencies and tasks during no-patient clinic sessions.

Supporting Evidence

  • A total of 77 logs were submitted by the class.
  • Students completed 79 competencies and 14 simulated practice skills.
  • Most tasks completed included competencies and scheduling patients.

Takeaway

Students used a special log to keep track of their work when there were no patients in the clinic, helping them learn and stay on track.

Methodology

Senior dental hygiene students completed a productivity log during no-patient days to document tasks and competencies.

Limitations

Some students did not follow directions for completing the log, and only a few faculty members signed the documents.

Participant Demographics

Senior dental hygiene students.
