Sudden massive swelling of the neck due to intralesional bleeding of a thyroid adenoma is a rare but critical condition.

Conclusion

Intralesional bleeding of a thyroid adenoma can cause sudden neck swelling and should be considered in emergency situations.

Supporting Evidence

  • A histopathological examination showed a hemorrhagic infarction of a follicular thyroid adenoma.
  • The patient had a painless swelling that developed suddenly after sneezing.
