Hypothesis
Triphenyltin coumarin-3-carboxylate and its complexes will exhibit high cytotoxicity against EBV-DNA positive Raji and P-388 leukemia cell lines.
Conclusion
The study found that triphenyltin coumarin-3-carboxylate and its complexes were significantly more cytotoxic to cancer cells than the standard drug 5-Fluorouracil.
Supporting Evidence
- The organotin compounds showed LC50 values significantly lower than those of 5-Fluorouracil.
- Triphenyltin coumarin-3-carboxylate suppressed the expression of early antigen proteins in Raji cells.
- DNA analysis indicated that organotin treatment affected the integrity of the DNA in treated cells.
Takeaway
This study shows that a special chemical can kill cancer cells better than a common cancer drug.
Methodology
The study involved testing the cytotoxic effects of triphenyltin coumarin-3-carboxylate and its complexes on Raji and P-388 cell lines using cytotoxicity assays and immunofluorescence techniques.
Limitations
The study does not provide extensive demographic information about the cell lines used or the potential effects on human subjects.
